ALPHA TEST DAY

Saturday 16th November

After Match Analysis

"Loved the setup 7v7 and the game arena is a good size so you didn't get pinned down for too long, fire fights were decent back and forth."

All of us who were involved in delivering, marshalling and playing on the first Alpha Test Day, were delighted with how it went.

It was Tester so, naturally, not everything went without a hitch, but we had three full teams of eager players who were willing to try out Airsoft as a Sport, and tell us what worked and what didn't.

"The games were so close that the losses didn't feel like losses."

The two in, one out playing format worked - and it was great to see, and hear, teams in the safe zone (some who'd had never played with each other before) discussing tactics for their next games.

The Referee and Marshals agreed that the Target Identification during the games was 'on point' and the sportsmanship shown exemplary.

"There were points in the game where it was pure silent, you were just listening for footsteps"

The tactical play was very evident, especially when we played Control + Survive, players acted as a team, pursing objectives, and protecting against reSpawns.
At one point , just after the call of 'Game On!', there was a radio message from one of the Marshals at Spawn, '...and the Yellows have vanished...'

"The Medic rule made for some interesting plays -  like, Do I rush the guy who killed my teammate or revive my teammate?"

There will be some tweaking to the medic rule, the ease of use of the Medic Bands is something we will definitely look into, and the COMPULSORY 15 second Bleed-out did speed things up.

"The yellow player crawling across the floor to get a revive, only to be double-tapped in the head as he grabbed the wounded teammate's leg, classic!"

The tactical thinking, very quickly discovered that the scoring of survival in an objective game HAD to change or, as one team pointed out, 'doesn't matter how many deaths' - and the one league point for lowest reSpawn DID make a difference to the overall scoring.

Team P W L D Obj Sv B+ Pts
Alpha Yellow 6 4 2 0 4 2 0 14
Alpha Green 6 3 3 0 3 1 0 10
Alpha Blue 6 2 4 0 2 3 0 9

We're still learning, and improving... The Control Points worked, and with some adjustment will be even better... we believe the scoring now makes sense and the fact that the teams were so close at the finish is great.
